A few weeks ago, I spent an amazing weekend on Sanibel Island with my boyfriend and here are a few things you should do when visiting the island and one thing you should NOT do. Hope you enjoy!
Scooter rides
Scooter rides are a must when going to Sanibel. Renting a scooter is such a wonderful experience and helps you learn your way around the island! You really get to see the homes, resorts, and even the beaches up close (which doesn’t even compare to the view from your car).
Sanibel Outlets
The outlets are in a great place for shopping and even for taking pictures! Their store collection isn’t enormous but they had great deals while my boyfriend and I were there.
Sanibel Thriller
Wow guys, I don’t like waking up early but this thing was definitely worth it. This high-speed boat took us around the island and gave us a nice little tour about the history of the island (I started to get bored but my boyfriend’s a nerd so he enjoyed it). But I wasn’t bored for long! We turn around and see dolphins jumping out of the water behind us! It was their way of playing with us (I just love dolphins… honestly the best part of the trip).
Cute little shops
We drove around the island and found little shops. They had so many products that are Sanibel-exclusive, like unique homemade items, shells, and little souvenirs for the family. If you love shopping as much as I do then you’ll love it!
Cheeburger Cheeburger
This cute little 50s diner is a must, they have such amazing milkshakes and burgers (the chili fries were INCREDIBLE)
Pierside Grill and Famous Blowfish Bar
This restaurant is located in Fort Myers Beach so it’s a 15-minute drive from Sanibel but it is so worth it. You can enjoy a nice dinner on the deck with a spectacular view of the sunset! (get there early, it fills up fast) The locally-sourced grouper is a MUST because… well… it’s locally-sourced! Another Sanibel-exclusive!
DO NOT…
go to the beach in the evening during the summer months! You would think “Oh it would be so nice to see the sunset and relax on the beach while it’s not too hot” but let me tell you… it was NOT a good idea! BUGS EVERYWHERE! But we took some awesome pictures for you guys and the beach landscape looks STUNNING (notice no people in the background). Moral of the story, DO NOT go to the beach late in the summertime in Sanibel.
Love it! ❤️
